She scanned the area again. A run-down old factory building with barely any windows. He hadn’t done a great job of picking a place to keep her. He still gave her food and water, and all around just wasn’t a very smart kidnapper.
“Hey, you! Girl! Aren’t you afraid to die?” he asked, scratching his whiskery cheek.
Mia thought for a moment. Death was unavoidable, she’d long since accepted that fact. She knew her fears, getting kidnapped not being one. He wasn’t starving her or forcing her to do anything for him.
Mia shook her head, “Why would I be scared of what’s coming for us all? Everyone dies, and that’s not gonna change soon.”
The man cackled, “But what if I killed you ‘cuz your friend didn’t come up with the money?”
“Well, that’d be unfortunate. I don’t really want you to kill me, but, at the same time, that may be what God has in store for me.”
The slightly gray-haired man scowled, looking up toward the top of the dusty building, “Yeah. Maybe the Man Upstairs thinks it’s time for you to meet him,” he got up from his chair, pulling out the small pocket knife he’d found her with.
Mia’s eyes widened as she silently began to pray, hoping someone would find her soon.
The doors of the dingy factory building suddenly burst open as loud voices shouted. Her mind didn’t comprehend their words, but Mia could see that they were here to save her.
Two people ran toward her, untying the ropes from her wrists and helping her out of the building.

Kimberly read the text on the screen, her eyes glued to it. When she finished, she turned to Mia, a slightly shocked look o her face. “You dreamed all that?”“Weird, right?”
Kimberly nodded. “Thank goodness it didn’t actually happen. That’d be terrible!” she laughed, “So, how’s the first chapter of the book coming along?”
“Good. I think it’s gonna be great,” Mia grinned, spinning to face her. “I’m just not sure how to end it.”
Kimberly sighed, a smile still on her face, “Let me see it. I’ll finish it up.”
IT WAS A DREAM! Here I was thinking of theories on how she was going to get away and who kidnapped her. It was very a interesting plot twist that almost killed me. I thought she was going to die. I really loved the part it being what God had in store for her and her praying. It's amazing to see she still held on to her faith even in the situation she was in. Great finish to a great story! -Kim Wilson
ReplyDeleteWow, the ending legitimately made me laugh. It was definitely unexpected and caught me off guard. Once again you showed very good writing skills and a creative twist in your plot. I must say it was quite impressive coming up with that ending. Not only did it just finish up the story super well, but it fixed the problem of unanswered questions. Anything can happen in a dream, It was a good story overall. Good job Brittany. Harrison McCall #17
