M.I.A (Pt. 2) - Brittany Tucker (#18)

Olivia stood, walking out of her boss’ office, reading the text on her phone.
“Where do you think you’re going?!” her boss, Tammera, yelled.
She calmly turned back around, “Alec found a case, and he seems very adamant about solving it now.”
Alec met her with a smile on his face, “So, how’d it go the boss?”
“I’d say it went well. She wasn’t crying this time when I left.”
    “Nice! So, about this case...”
Olivia glanced to him, “What about it?”
“Well, I don’t know that you’ll like it. There wasn’t anyone that died.” Alec admitted.
Olivia stopped. “If no one’s dead, then why are we interested in it?”
“Because I’m bored, and you were at a meeting. Plus, we got a call from our friends at the other building.”
Olivia groaned, “They always call us. Why?! Can they not handle things on their own for once?!”
Alec laughed at her reaction. “See? I knew you wouldn’t like it. I know you better than you know me.”
    Olivia scoffed, “Yeah, okay.”
Alec wrapped an arm around her shoulder, “Let’s go and get this over with. I know how much you love it when Tammera yells at you for pointless reasons.”
* * * *
Alec laughed as they walked in, seeing Emilia Jones and Richard Finch standing in the center of the room, waiting for them. Emilia handed them each a folder and debriefed them.
“Okay,” Alec said when she got done, “Why can’t you guys handle this?”
“Well, we need you guys to help us figure something out. It’s something the two of you specialize in.”
Alec and Olivia shared a look of confusion for a moment. “We specialize in something?” Olivia quietly asked her partner, earning only a shrug in response.
“She’s in there,” Finch points to one of the interrogation rooms before moving to a different room to watch how Olivia and Alec worked.
Olivia took a deep breath, nodding to Alec as they entered the room. “Okay, Ms. Kimberly, I’m Agent Hood, and this man is my partner, Agent Graves. He’s a lot nicer than his name suggests.”
    Kimberly smiled.
“Now, if you wouldn’t mind, tell us what happened, starting the day it happened.”
Kimberly nodded. “A few days after she sent me the first chapter of the book, I got a call from an unknown number. The voice was distorted and weird. They said they wanted twelve hundred dollars by Monday, and if I didn’t have it, they’d kill her!”
Alec nodded. “Anything else, Ms. Wilson? Either you tell us now, or we find out and arrest you for withholding information from us.”
Kimberly nodded again, “That’s everything I know, I promise. Please, just find her!”
Alec and Olivia looked at each other again, nodding. “Don’t worry,” Olivia started.
“We’ll find her,” Alec finished as they left the room.
Finch stalked toward them as Olivia closed the door. “How’d you guys...”
Olivia stopped him. “You guys didn’t ask questions?”
“We did, but we didn’t get that much information out of her.”
“Well, what can I say? We have a way with people. Can’t help it. Especially me,” Alec joked.
Olivia smacked the back of his head. “Stop that. We need to get to work if we want to save the girl’s life. Now let’s go.”

  1. This is very, very intriguing. I'm very concerned about me though. I seem very sketchy. Or it may just be me thinking that. Maybe I kidnapped her? Maybe it was her crazy ex boyfriend that she wouldn't take back. It would be really interesting if one of the cops did it. She could have known a dark secret about one of them and was going to expose it in her book. Anyways, I really love this. I want to know what happened to the girl! You managed to hook me in the first sentence of the first post! Post more, because I really want to know how this story ends! You're such a great writer! -Kim Wilson

  2. Okay due to the comment above I do have confirmation that Kimberly is actually Kimberly. Wow, that one really makes me sound smart. Once again the story is well written and presents a captivating story. There ares so many unanswered question right now and I can see there is only one other part. Can't wait to see how many get answered. Harrison McCall #16
