VBS: Haven Robertson

I think a lot of people have heard of  VBS or Vacation Bible school. I have loved VBS ever since I first got the chance to experience it for the first time at my church in 2008. I am old enough now that I get to be a "tour guide" or a leader for the kids instead of a student. Our VBS at First Baptist Church this year was amazing. I got the privilege to be the group leader to a wonderful group of about six or seven first and second grade girls. The kids at Vacation Bible school were split up by grade. There were many different stations that each group would go to. The stations include crafts, bible study, games outside, and snack time. VBS would start an end with everyone singing and dancing togetehr in the sanctuary. Anyone that really knows me knows that I LOVE working with children. The bond that I made with the group of girls I was leading throughout the 5 days at VBS was amazing.
The whole purpose of Vacation Bible school, to me, is to allow kids pre-school-sixth grade to come from all over town to a loving environment and fellowship and learn about our amazing savior. We never know what type of life the kids have but it is fascinating to see how happy the kids become once they walk into the church. There were so many kids that had questions about God and what he had done for us and even some that accepted God into their hearts throughout the week at VBS. I was so happy to be a part of such a wonderful thing.
Vacation Bible school will always mean a lot to me because it is where I accepted Jesus into my heart when I was in the third grade. That day was probably the best day of my life. I can't wait to see what God has in store for the future Vacation Bible Schools. I hope that I will get the opportunity to be a leader at VBS next year and meet new kids. I can not wait for VBS 2017!
